“Old-School Breadboarding” workshop

Ever wonder why a breadboard is called a breadboard?

Back in olden times, a common method of building electronics was to get a literal board (scrap wood, or if you wanted your thing to look fancy, a literal bread cutting board that you “borrowed” from the kitchen), tap some nails in it, and solder or twist leads around the nails. There are still projects that use similar build methodologies.

What kind of project would be good for this?

  • classic crystal radio receiver
  • other radio receivers (various VLF/atmospheric types, regenerative maybe too complicated)
  • See this for an example: http://www.stormwise.com/project1.htm

This may be fun to do in conjunction with Soulcraft (do the board up with them on planer/saw/etc.), and work on the electronics part with us.
