TO DO LIST

THINGS YOU CAN BRING THAT WOULD HELP

  • “Shoe Box”-style plastic boxes. Nicer ones from Home Depot or even dollar store ones. We're not picky. If we had 20 of these show up, I'm sure we'd find a use for at least 20 more.
  • 9 Volt batteries
  • 3.5“ SATA Hard drives or even SSDs. Big enough to host a reasonable Linux install. DBAN or otherwise securely erase them if used, please.
  • Duct Tape
  • Pie-in-the-sky request: Another nice rolling tool chest like our Craftsman one? If somebody craigslists one for $50 or less, I'll reimburse you (only applicable one time. Include screenshot/printout of ad)

General Space Infrastructure

  • General cleanup
    • Empty garbage into dumpster (all of the cans, so we can fill them up again)
    • Tidy all workbench surfaces
    • Shelf organization/labeling
    • Keep generally similar things together. If something's in the wrong place, get it to the right (or at least a more correct) place.
    • Contain loose things into containers where possible
    • LABEL BOXES/CONTAINERS/SHELVES: just use a piece of masking tape & a Sharpie.
  • literally work on anything on the fixme list
  • Reorganize sign in table so stuff doesn't go flying when the garage door gets opened?
  • Use the new Vinyl Cutter to make a magnetic sign for the outside door.

Shop Zone

  • Replace the belts on the Shopsmith Mark V.
  • The Table Saw has broken off of its stand. Repair or do something about it
    • Maybe build it into a rolling stand with foldable outfeeds? That would be slick…
    • Repaired for now. If you have to move it, get a friend's help. DON'T DRAG IT AROUND.
  • Drill bit sorting(ok, probably not, but it does drive me crazy)
    • Priority: really low, unless it's driving you crazier than me.
  • Tool organization
  • Rolling carts/stands for some bench tools (Miter saw, especially) - need to keep bench space free for the eventual 4×4 CNC Router.
  • Better stand/mount for the Disc Sander?
  • Better organization inside the gray bench cabinets in general
  • Electrical wiring for the “new” 220V stick welder (convert its plug to a dryer-style plug for the outlet by the garage door?)
    • There are plugs in the box of electrical fitting stuff
  • Move the yellow folding welding tables up onto the Pallet racks - they're taking up space another tool could use
  • Build a nice fence for the Enco Drill Press
  • Measure T-slot nuts for the Enco Drill Press. See of additional ones are available, or maybe make some.
  • Actually implement dust collection. Do we need parts? Identify them so we can get them.
    • Dust collection cart is basically complete. Ports along the benches are started.
    • Figure out ID of Wye adapters on hand. Do we have PVC of appropriate OD to fit them? Use ball valves as blast gates? Make blast gates?
      • 1 1/2” Schedule 40 pipe (i.e. 1.9“ OD) should work
    • Should we get rid of/move aside the Delta dust collector in light of this? It's taking up space and not getting used.
      • Moved it over with all the other vacuums
  • Move the really big clamps off of the green tool shelf shelves. Either attach a mount to the sides or maybe the wall behind the press.
  • Wilton Vise repair
    • Figure out the exact model the broken Wilton vise is
      • Good News - it's a 535 (I think). Bad News - I can't find an appropriate spindle nut.
      • Cast one in epoxy? or just toss the vise out?

Electronics/Digital Zone (general)

  • Fastener Organization & labeling
  • Install a set of standardized tools onto laptops
    • Arduino IDE
    • Cura
    • SignBlazer Elements (it's effectively free…)
    • Pronterface (handy for debugging DIY printers)
    • Inkscape (useful for designing stuff for the vinyl cutter)
    • Other software?
    • Maybe first get all of these installers onto a USB stick, so they can be done all at once.
  • Investigate box on the wall where an additional outlet could potentially go.

Computers/Digital Fabrication

  • DesignJet needs a new Yellow/Matte Black printhead. (ebay - $23 or b&h for a lot of $$)
    • Printhead came in, but now the printer wants to work before actually putting it in?
    • Also, this printer really needs a dust cover, since it gets completely clogged up with dust and debris when not in use.
  • Separate/organize USB cables by type (A/B, Mini, Micro, etc.)
  • MaxNc Y axis repair- problem with the motor-leadscrew coupling?

Electronics

  • Organize components better
  • Organize electronics tools better
    • Some little plastic bins would be helpful for this (one for solder, one for desoldering tools, etc.)
    • This has been started. Need more bins.
  • Figure out power supply pinout for prototyping station. Fabricobble a replacement or otherwise find one.

AV Stuff

  • Go through pile of donated audio cables w/cable tester and see what's working and what isn't
    • Make repairs to cables that don't work, or make list of needed connectors if parts aren't available.
  • Figure out condition of donated microphones - parts needed? parts available?

The Website

  • Want to design a website? Have I got a job for you…

This Wiki

  • Update entries that need updating
  • Delete entries that need to be deleted
  • Add entries that need to be added (use the Tool Submission Form for Equipment)
  • Add photos to Equipment entries? (Good for a first timer!)
  • Add/Update instructions for Equipment entries

Miscellaneous

  • Inventory First Aid supplies. Make list of recommended additions and/or replacements for anything missing.

Long Term/Not any time soon

  • More/better shelving?
    • More improved use of vertical space? (not sure how to accomplish this without stairs/ladders)
    • Any new shelving project should have a budget, rough drawing, and an explanation of where it will go…
  • Move the big refrigerator over by the big table/robot?
    • Gets it out of the painting guy's way, keeps it out of our way, and we can offer its use up to MOOS as well.
    • Thinking this over again, this may really limit us electrically (I suspect all the outlets along the wall might be on the same circuit…)
  • Build a wheeled cart for the Casting Furnace?
    • We'd need cast iron/steel casters. We should have sufficient steel tubing?
    • Priority: low, needs good weather (due to welding) or done offsite.
