  * Machine blanks to length (belt/disc sander?)
  * Mount blanks on lathe mandrel (lathe)
  * Turning the pens (lathe)
    * rough turning to round
    * turning to approximate diameter
  * Sanding/finishing (lathe)
  * Pen assembly
